I was just thinking about something regarding domestic abuse that I do not think many Christians consider 1Corinthians 3:16 States that our bodies are a temple of the holy spirit, that means that God lives in us.Would any man in his right mind dare to throw a punch at God? I think not there is also a verse in the bible where Jesus tells his disciples both true and false As much as ye have done to the least of these my brethren so have you done unto me.17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy for the temple of God is holy which temple ye are. These words take on a whole meaning to me in light of something horrific I saw posted on a site that was supposed to be for those who are not ashamed of Jesus. Apparently some thought it would be “funny” to put a fabricated bible verse next to a woman with a black eye. Well I could not see something like that without calling it out .Jesus was not “tolerant” of sin and neither should we be. It is one thing to love and forgive it is another to promote unrighteousness. Abusers love to hide behind scripture and use it as a means to excuse inexcusable behavior. God however calls us to holiness his righteous standard is perfect No human being (except Jesus himself) will ever live up to it .Yet it is our guidebook our mirror into the perfect heartbeat of God.Matthew 5:8 States blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.God makes it abundantly clear that each of us will stand before the throne room on judgment day.1Corinthians 3:13Every mans work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it it shall be revealed by FIRE and the fire shall try every mans work of what sort it is. Hebrews says that “Our God is a consuming fire”.1corinthians 3:14 then goes on to state that if any mans work abide which he has built thereupon he shall receive a reward. What does this scripture imply? To me it says that our works are an offering to God and that he will destroy those works that he does not find value in.Only those works that we do with full intent to bring him but not ourselves glory are of any ” lasting worth ” in his sight. The bible says as well that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God.Our body is his our hands are to be used to promote wholeness and healing not destruction. If a man or woman chooses to attack their significant other God will not hear their prayers. He is a defender of the weak and he uplifts the oppressed. He is their to free them from the hands of the wicked.
